An enormous fresh-water lake situated in northern Geatland. The lake itself is so large that once can barely see the eastern shore when standing on the western one.
The Baldesmere is in a region of swampy lowlands, the only point of significant elevation being the smoking peak of Hvitr’s Horn. Within the swamp only a few villages dot the landscape, these hardy folk live simple lives of fishing and trapping, they have little wealth and even less knowledge of the world outside their watery homeland.
To the north the swamps give way to the broad taiga of the far north, where few dare to tread. Stories of bloodthirsty yeti packs and howling evil spirits, along with the soul-crushing barrenness of the area mean that few ever bother to travel beyond the Baldesmere.
